In response to questions about the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, President Biden said on Monday that he remembers speaking with a trauma doctor in New York City 20 years ago who supposedly told him that “… a 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body”.  He went on to say that 9mm ammunition is unnecessary for self-defense or hunting and should be banned.  (MSNBC Video “Biden: ‘No Rational Basis’ For Purchasing High-Caliber Weapons”)

Anyone who has any understanding of firearms and ammunition knows that this is an absurd claim.  But OK, so our President doesn’t know the first thing about foot-pounds of muzzle energy or the resistance of body tissue to projectiles or wound cavities and all that stuff.  No big deal really, I suppose.  Lots of folks are ignorant of these matters.  Even lots of firearms owners are unfamiliar.

This is really all just part of the Liberal adage of ‘not letting a crisis go to waste’.  It wasn’t four hours since the START of the shooting in Uvalde that Vice President Kamala Harris was already at the mic demanding new gun control.  This is all part of the steady drumbeat of incendiary language used by the anti-gun left to demonize firearms; “high-caliber and armor-piercing ammunition, high capacity magazines, weapons of war”, and on and on and on.

You can be certain that these keywords will figure heavily in the DNC-controlled Congress’s upcoming avalanche of “common-sense gun control bills” in the wake of the shootings in Uvalde and Buffalo, leading up to the mid-term elections.  Legislation that the GOP seems dangerously close to buying into.

And, of course, just over the past few days, our befuddled president has used his favorite lines, “You don’t need armor-piercing ammo to hunt deer” and “if you need 30 rounds to kill a deer then you’re a terrible shot”… as if the 2nd Amendment had anything to do with hunting.  He’s even recently called for the re-enactment of the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban which was an abysmal failure.

Embarrassingly, during this same impromptu South Lawn presser, President Biden – who one would assume would know our Constitution and our history – repeated his oft-used lie that “When the 2nd Amendment was passed you couldn’t by a cannon!”  I’ve previously addressed this fallacy.  Maybe I should send that e-mail to the White House.
